Lively and sometimes high-spirited, Bourg loves a good party! All year round, it thrives through the cultural, sporting and intergenerational events organised in harmony with 1,200 associations.
Smooth sailing its way through life, the city boasts a multitude of state-of-the-art sports equipment to satisfy increasing demand: from the Carré d'eau watersports centre and Verchère stadium to Les Vennes equestrian centre... Rubbing shoulders with top ranking clubs like JL Basket, the USBPA in rugby and the FCBP in football, a hundred or so clubs pool 15,000 licensed members. The calendar of sporting events lives up to expectations with the international horse jumping qualifiers for the Olympic Games, the tennis grand prix, the international female basketball tournament "Espoirs féminines", stages of the Tour de France, and more.
Cultural boom
With an eclectic line-up, a keen and inquisitive public, Bourg is in regional terms, a cultural capital. All arts and styles are represented at the Theatre, the departmental Conservatoire, "La Tannerie", the contemporary music hall and Maison des jeunes et de la culture... Bourg is coming out of its shell and does not shy away from the opportunity to celebrate, between the spring writing festival "Printemps des écritures", the animated film festival, the Christmas market, Interfolklores meetings, Art qu'en cirque and 20/22 de la Comédie...
A gentle pace of life
A city for sharing, Bourg provides a million ways to find fulfilment. We pull out all the stops to make everyday life a breeze: customised facilities for 0-3 year olds, extracurricular activities, events for older children, meetings between the generations, decentralised services in each district, integration for the disabled, etc.

Birthplace of champions
Following in the footsteps of Olympic champion marathon runner Alain Mimoun and cyclist Daniel Morelon, the gauntlet has been taken up by Audrey Socquet in rifle shooting and Julien Benneteau in tennis, among others.
