The sector's growth drivers include Renault Trucks and Trouillet for bodywork, and Nexans and Tréfileurope (Mittal Steel group) for cables and wire drawing. Another centre of excellence is the agri-food industry which formed in the Bresse area to encompass research, teaching and technology. With over 6,000 jobs in Ain, this sector is endowed with an industrial engineering science park, Alimentec. Many SME-SMIs enable this tradition to transcend departmental borders, including Les Quenelles Giraudet, La Laiterie de Bresse, Les biscuits Bouvard and Bresse Bleu.
