The friendship which has linked Bourg-en-Bresse and its German twin town of Bad Kreuznach for over 40 years is a prime example. The links between the two communities have constantly evolved without ever experiencing the slightest setback. Bourg-en-Bresse appreciates the importance of international relations. On top of its twinning with the Germany town, the city has initiated exchanges of a more economic nature with the Italians of Parma and the Belgians of Namur. The common denominator of these partner cities lies in their know-how in the field of agri-food.

The city has also forged links with other countries: Tunisia (the city of El Kef) and Poland (city of Bzeg). Aylesbury, in the UK. The latter enables local youths to improve their command of the language of Shakespeare in the context of school exchanges... Like its partner European cities, Bourg-en-Bresse actively participated in the context of school exchanges...

Like its partner European cities, Bourg-en-Bresse actively participated in Europe Day on 9th May. Indeed, on 9th May 1950, Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Schuman offered European countries the chance to pool their production of raw materials. The foundations of European construction were thus laid!
