A select line-up of events...

All year round, the City vibrates to the pace set by a string of events which offer every generation innumerable opportunities to take part and take pleasure, through over 1,200 associations. A select line-up of events on an international scale !

Les Floralies
© Camille Hardy The gardeners from around sixty cities in France and abroad come together every three years in autumn in a floral symphony and transform Bourg's Parc des Expositions into a garden unlike any other. The 10th version of this event took place in 2006 and brought in over 77,000 visitors, who came to admire these exceptional, albeit ephemeral, creations. The next show: 6th to 15th November 2009. > Ainterexpo
The Gastronomy Trade Fair
© S.Buathier In the home of Brillat Savarin, gastronomy is a tradition. Two years out of every three in November, the Gastronomy Trade Fair draws in over 25,000 visitors, countless exhibitors and cities or regions which present their know-how and culinary specialities in Bourg.

The Bourg triathlon

© S. Buathier © S. Buathier Every year in late May or early June, a wave of competitors crash into the water at Bouvent Leisure Park. In the key legs of this discipline - swimming, cycling, running -, a thousand athletes from all countries participate every year in the event and it has already become one of the most prestigious triathlons in the Rhône-Alpes region.

The tennis Prix

© JJ. Pauget For 15 years, the small yellow ball is the centre of attention every July in Bourg's tennis Grand Prix. Over a hundred amateur and professional players from all countries come together on the clay court at Jacques Porte stadium to glean ATP points. The City of Bourg-en-Bresse is a loyal sponsor of the event and of the Bourg Tennis Club which trained French tennis hope Julien Benneteau

Les Glorieuses
© S.Buathier Whether roasted or in a cream sauce, succulent Bresse chicken is the uncontested star on any menu. It is the only poultry in the world to have had a label of origin since 1957, which has been celebrated in December every year since 1862 in the "Glorieuses" contests. These competitions reward the very best of local production and pay tribute to the expertise of poultry breeders. The grand honorary prize-winner of Bourg-en-Bresse is awarded a Sèvres vase from the President of the Republic and the competition's finest capon is delivered to the Elysée Palace.
The EAB's half-marathon

© JF Basset The local athletics club, the Entente Athlétique Bressane (EAB), has been organising its half-marathon for the best past of twenty years on every 2nd Saturday of March. Known for being tough, this challenge draws in over 1,500 competitors of a dozen or so nationalities. Since 1999, a 10km fun run is also organised for all willing competitors.

International jumping

© JL Perier The Vennes equestrian centre in Bourg hosts its International Jumping competition every year. This competition has risen further in the ranks of international competitions by earning a fourth star. The Grand Prix of the City of Bourg-en-Bresse, a prestigious jumping competition, is now a qualifier for the Olympic Games.

The Tour de l'Ain cycling race

© Ville de Bourg Initiated in 1989, the Tour de l'Ain has taken its place in the national calendar for amateur on-road racing. Bourg-en-Bresse is a rite of passage for this race as it is automatically either a stop-off or the finishing line.
